Submission Guidelines

Abstracts:

Abstracts should be no more than 400 words (max). Each abstract should address the purpose, methods, and implications of the scholarly work to be presented. All abstracts, conference presentations and full papers must be in English. Please include the Theme your abstract addresses in a by-line under the abstract title. Abstracts must be received no later than 5pm, November 30th, 2014. All abstracts will be peer reviewed and all submissions will receive a written response with feedback from the Conference Organising Committee by December 22nd 2014. The authors of successful abstracts will then be invited to submit their full paper by 15th March, 2015.

Review Process:

Full papers will be double-blind peer reviewed, and returned to their authors for revision. Papers that are accepted, or accepted pending revision, will have until 30th Marchrd, 2015, for their completion. Authors will then be informed of the result by 17th Aprilth, 2015.

Presentations:

Accepted papers will be organized into sessions based upon their chosen themes. PowerPoint slide presentations can be formatted according to the conference template below and saved either in PowerPoint format or PDF. Please note that our display systems will not accept work produced in Apple Keynote unless exported as a PDF. It will be the responsibility of presenters to bring their slideshow document on a USB memory stick to their respective session/s for upload.

Conference Publication:

All accepted papers will be published in an online conference proceeding volume with an ISBN number. A selection of the best papers will be resubmitted to the authors for revision after the conference for inclusion in an edited volume, to be published in late 2015. The Conference organisers are currently negotiating with a leading British publisher to produce this edited collection.

 

Full Paper Submission Guidelines

An MS Word Template file is now available with which you can format your paper. Please read the directions given in this file carefully so as to ensure your work is correctly finished in readiness for production of the conference proceedings:

We only accept text files in .doc or .docx format (Microsoft Word). We do not accept PDF submissions for presentation papers and proceedings.

Papers should be no more than 2,500 – 3,000 words in length. They should be written as continuous expository narrative in a chapter or article style—not as lists of dot points.

Papers should be original work. Submissions must contain no more than 20% of textual material published in other places by the same author or authors, and these must be acknowledged and cited.

Authors must ensure the accuracy of all citations, quotations, diagrams, tables, and maps.

Papers must be written in accordance with the in-text author-date style of referencing found in The Chicago Manual of Style.

Papers should be checked and proofread before submission. Changes cannot be made to papers during the peer review process. However, even if your paper is accepted without required changes, you will have a chance to make minor revisions after peer review and before the final submission of your paper.

Full Poster Submission Guidelines

Postgraduate students are invited to submit posters outlining their research in progress. This can be extracted from their thesis, or some other aspect of their work, including practical works of design or descriptions of artifacts. No physical objects can be submitted.

Art work for posters should be generated at A1 size (594mm wide X 841mm long), in portrait orientation, should be illustrated in colour, and can contain text and dot points up to 800 words. Initial submissions for review should be duplicated and reduced in size to A3 at 100dpi and saved in pdf format. This will then be uploaded as a full poster submission for first review by November 30th, 2014. Final submissions, after the review process (outlined above) should be made as physical posters (digital inkjet advised), non-laminated and ready for hanging at final submission, by April 3rd.  No submissions will be accepted after this date. Please ensure your submission details are included on the reverse of your poster.
